About Us

Berkshire Renegades American Football Club are an amateur, not for profit organisation run by dedicated volunteers to provide American Football training to anyone over the age of 7 years old.  The club have 7 teams that are registered with BAFA – 5 of which are part of a growing youth programme.  We encourage those interested to come along and take part in our training sessions – after which they would have loved the training and want to register and become a member of the Renegades family!

Our home training ground is at Woodford Park Leisure Centre, Haddon Drive, Woodley, Berkshire, RG5 4LY.  All home games are held at University of Reading, Shinfield Road, Reading, Berkshire, RG6 6DJ.

Pre-season training begins on the second weekend of January and finishes at the end of September.  Between October and December the club holds Community Rookie Days, where anyone can come along and join in an American Football training session – non contact of course.  If you are interested in attending one (or all) of these rookie sessions, please email [email protected]

The club also hold a charity event every October around World Mental Health Day (10th October).  All monies that are raised go straight to Sport In Mind, a Berkshire based charity who work with adults and children struggling with their mental health, by encouraging them to take part in an activity.  Between 3 and 5 other teams from around the UK register to take part in a mini flag football tournament, the winner being the team who wins the most games.  It’s a fun and enjoyable afternoon for all who attend, with some exciting flag football games – all for a good cause!  The club has been running the event now for 3 years and we look forward to hosting it again in 2024!

The club looks to promote the sport of American Football within Berkshire and the surrounding area, as well as develop both coaches and players – many of whom are new to the sport.

In addition to recruiting new players, we also welcome new coaching staff (positional, head coaches, co-ordinators etc).  All coaching staff must attain at least the Level 1 BAFCA Coaching qualification that is run by Sport Structures (British American Football Coaching Courses (sportstructures.com).  All coaching staff are DBS checked and have attended safeguarding courses.
